Working Group Description
The Health Working Group is tasked to determine and make recommendations on how best to respond to mental and physical health challenges in the Stellenbosch sub-district. The questions the working group seek to answer are: “What are the services available? What could be done to promote accessibility and create a collective transformative impact?”
Focus areas
- Collaboration with Stellenbosch Hospital and the Department of Health to improve healthcare access and service provision
- Activation and expansion of psychosocial support groups for adults to address mental health needs
- Establishing effective referral systems to connect individuals with appropriate service partners
- Educating the broader community on mental health awareness and destigmatisation efforts
Development Gaps
- General mental health support initiatives to address the broader mental health needs of the community

- Accessibility to counseling and support services for individuals in need
- Resource sharing among organizations to maximize impact and reach
- Collaborative-based capacity building to strengthen the skills and capabilities of healthcare providers
- Developing referral pathways for holistic service delivery and enhancing service mapping initiatives
